Simply Kimberley Sustainability Initiatives

 

Our properties are designed to be energy efficient. The Stemwinder Solar Lodge produces 150% more power than it consumes thanks to its 24.3 kW solar array, and the Stemwinder Chalet's 6.3 kW solar panel array offsets around 35% of that property’s energy usage. Furthermore, all properties in our portfolio use LED light bulbs and smart thermostats.

 

We focus on locally sourced, quality products. Our bathrooms are equipped with dispensers for Canadian-made, organic Oneka products at the showers and sinks, and we provide local coffee from Kickturn Coffee Roasters for our guests.

We invite you to join us in our commitment to the environment while you visit the region. Here are a few ways you can help:

 

- Use Active Transportation: We provide bicycles for your use at the Stemwinder Solar Lodge. You can use the Peak to Platzl paved bike paththat connects the downtown to Stemwinder Drive. Or, take the trails from the Nordic Centre through the Nature Park.

- Conserve Energy and Water: Please turn off lights and adjust the heat while you are out. Help reduce water usage by filling dishwashers and washing machines before running them.

- Avoid Bottled Water: Our tap water is amazing and fresh. Please bring a refillable water bottle for your daily adventures and avoid bringing bottled water to the properties.

- Support Local Food: Processed, highly packaged items often fill our garbage bins. Consider purchasing food locally; Stoke Market and Save-On-Foods carry BC products year-round, and the summer offers abundant local vegetables and Creston fruit.

- Recycle: We make it simple—just keep your clean recyclable items separate from landfill garbage, and we will take care of the rest.

- Keep Wildlife Wild: We are lucky to live on the edge of nature, and you may see deer, bear, or fox. Please keep animal attractants locked up and maintain a distance from wildlife to keep them safe.
